Sources of Information"Being able to research and use materials which back up your study or offer different interpretations of your study area is an essential aspect of studying and learning.
Primarily you need to be aware of where to look for information, how to access it and how to use it. You must also be able to scrutinise your sources to check that they are relevant and of a suitable nature to be included within your work." Finding Information"You may assume, automatically, that academic text books are the primary source of information when you are engaged in a formal study programme."
This is true for me because I think that if you are finding information, you can find a lot in different books. All documents that can be used for study is the: 1. Primary Documents - A primary document is a document that was written at the time of an event or period of research. Examples are: Autobiographies, Journals, Newspaper, Artefacts, Photographs and etc. 2. Secondary Documents - A secondary document is written after an event - usually the authors will not have witnessed the event themselves. Examples are: Essays or Reviews, Biography, Newspaper Article and etc. 3. Tertiary Documents - A secondary document is written after an event - usually the authors will not have witnessed the event themselves. Examples are: Almanacs, Bibliographies. or abstracts, Encyclopedias, Wikipedia articles, etc. "There are a lot of different sources of information available to you as a student." This means that you, as a students, can also find an information in other sources but this doesn't mean that you'll get the information you needed, rather, it may have the information that you might find useful. Here are the list of other sources:
1. Library Sources - As a student, it easy to go on a physical library, search in a shelves. But it is easier to search online. It is now common, especially in schools, to have an online library. There's a lot of advantages of online library and disadvantages and you should learn to evaluate what is the reliable information. 2. Internet Sources - There is a phenomenal amount of information available online, via webpages, blogs, forums, social media, catalogues and so on. As there is so much information available and because such information can be published quickly and easily by anybody and at any time, it is important that you are vigilant in choosing reliable sources. |
